Known for its spectacular coastal surroundings, this major attraction is the oldest surviving lighthouse within Newfoundland which was completely restored to its original appearance.

The coastal waters of Labrador and Newfoundland is likewise home to lots of unique marine animals, such as the humpback, minke, right, sei, pothead, blue, see fin and sperm whales. It is unique because it not just offers a botanical garden, but it likewise provides a natural reserve of about 20 species of birds, 212 species of ferns and flowering plants, and 26 butterfly species.

The continued growth of St. John's can be attributed to oil and gas in its oceans. The city has been recognized as having amongst the highest proportion of scientists and engineers per capita of any city below one million population within North America. Economic forecasts predict that the city of St. John's will continue to be strong in its economy in the coming years not just because of its natural resources, but also because of its tourism and new home construction.
