Forklift Attachments Strathcona - Strathcona is considered to be the oldest residential district in Vancouver, BC. It is bounded by Burrard Inlet towards the north, the Great Northern Railway and the Canadian National Railway, now known as the BNSF Railway classification yards towards the south, Clark Drive to the east and Chinatown to the west.

Now, more than 8,000 people live in Strathcona. The area grew throughout the boom years of the city between the founding time of the years 1886 to 1920. This growth in population was partly due from the choice of early Vancouver as a railway station. The region emerged from the first settlement which grew around Hastings Mill.

Strathcona has always been a working class district. The residents who call the area home come from many ethnic backgrounds. Where 61% of the individuals report Chinese as their mother tongue, it is the only district where English is not the most usually spoken language, and only 24 percent report English as their mother tongue.

There has been a major gentrification process within Strathcona during the recent years, reinforcing the economic disparity of the neighborhood. A lot of the homes in Strathcona are designated heritage homes because the latter part of the 19th and early 20th century architecture within the area is somewhat rare within Vancouver. Particularly, the housing stock is being renovated and rejuvenated. As a result, property values have increased and wealthier home owners are being drawn into the neighborhood. Many homeowners have restored their homes in the original Edwardian or Victorian styles, like paying precise attention to the time period's "true colors".
