Forklift Attachments Yukon

Forklift Attachments Yukon - Out of Canada's 3 federal territories, Yukon is the westernmost and smallest one. It was named after the Yukon River and the word means "Great River" in Gwich'in.

The territory was formed in eighteen ninety eight, from the Hudson's Bay Company's North-Western Territory and was initially referred to as "the Yukon." In 2003, the federal government's most recent update of the Yukon Act confirmed the name to be "Yukon," compared to "Yukon Territory," as the current usage standard. The Yukon Government recognizes First Nations languages even if the territory is officially bilingual with English and French.

Located within the Kluane National Park and Reserve, Mount Logan is the highest mountain in the country at 19,551 feet or 5,959 meters in height. It is also the 2nd highest mountain within North America following Alaska's Mount McKinley. There is little precipitation in the territory and the weather is Arctic and subarctic, resulting in short summer months and frigid and long winter season.

Mining has always been the main industry in the Yukon region. Zinc, asbestos, silver, gold, lead and copper are the most mined minerals and heavy metals. In the year 1870, the government acquired the land from the Hudson's Bay Company. In 1898, they split it from the Northwest Territories to fill the need for local government caused by the influx of the population due to the gold rush.

a lot of prospectors moved through the region in the gold rush. This period has been recorded and covered by well-known authors Jack London and Robert W. Service. The early days of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police were likewise important during this time. The many outdoor recreation opportunities along with the scenic natural wonders make tourism the 2nd most popular industry.

Hydroelectricity contributes to the local economy. The manufacturing industry makes clothing, furniture and handicrafts. Traditional industries such as trapping and fishing have declined during the years. Currently, the government sector is the largest employer in the territory. They directly employ roughly 5,000 individuals out of a labor force of approximately 12, 500.

The tourism motto of the territory is "Larger than life." The pristine nature of the area accounts for the major tourism appeal. There are many outfitters and guides offered to anglers and hunters and nature lovers of all sorts. The abundance of lakes and rivers make it an ideal spot for individuals who make use of kayaks and canoes. There are various trails to walk on and ride. Access to the backcountry by snowmobile or air is great for those who enjoy winter activities. There are opportunities to snowboard and ski and climb the highest peaks in the country. Families can hike together up smaller mountains. There are dog sledding and ice climbing companies around as well.

The many cultural activities and sporting events held each and every year in the Yukon is able to draw many artists, participants and tourists from all parts of the world. The most well-known events include the Frostbite Music Festival, Yukon International Storytelling Festival, Dawson Music festival, Yukon Quest, Sourdough Rendezvous, Northern Lights Centre, the Whitehorse Fish Ladder, Takhini Hot Springs as well as various Klondike Gold Rush memorials and activities.
