The Theatre has been bringing people together ever since the year 1062, and it is home to kelowna Community Concert Association, Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, Ballet Kelowna, Theatre Kelowna Society, and Viva Musica. The City even has Public Art pieces located throughout the entire area. These pieces are created by the community's non-profit groups or residents. Moreover, Kelowna City offers Arts Grants to non-profit arts and cultural groups which produce yearly arts-focused pursuits in the City. They work in partnership along with the Kelowna Museum, Kelowna Art Gallery, Parks Alive, and Rotary Centre for the Arts.

Within the city of Kelowna, there are cultural events and special events. There is rarely any time that passes without their being something new or fun to do. People who want the experience of festivals can visit and enjoy the Fat Cats Children's Festival, Mardi Gras Street Festival, Parks Alive and Okanagan Wine Festival. Fat Cat Children's Festival is operated by volunteers and funded locally. It attracts many children and parents each and every year. Mardi Gras provides restaurants and pubs all throughout the night. There are even stage performances and children's activity zone like dunk tank and climbing wall. Okanagan Wine Festivals are held three times within the Okanagan Valley. Everyone is invited to taste local food, sample award-winning wines and attend educational seminars. Parks Alive is a non-profit program that brings art and culture to Kelowna's lakefront and parks from June to September.

The City is the seat of the Regional District of the Central Okanagan, the third biggest metropolitan area in British Columbia. It is also the third biggest in the British Columbia Interior. Kelowna has several lovely lakes and mild weather, that makes it amongst the fastest growing cities within North America.
